Dr. Michael Burchell is an expert in human capital strategy and transformational change.  He is the co-author of two books, No Excuses: How You Can Turn Any Workplace into a Great One (2013), and The Great Workplace: How to Build It, How to Keep It, and Why It Matters (2011).  Michael is a sought after speaker at conferences around the world, speaking at professional association conferences, human capital summits and events, and corporate leadership retreats.

Michael is Client Services Lead for North America with McKinsey & Company's Organizational Health group, a McKinsey solution that supports clients in driving sustainable high performance through organizational alignment, execution and renewal.  Michael is responsible for business development, delivery of services to senior executives of client organizations, and supporting team effectiveness. 

Michael was a senior leader at Great Place to Work® Institute, the organization behind FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work for in America®.” A member of the Institute’s management team, he led the development of the their global network and was their vice president for global business development.  Prior to his international work, Michael also led consulting services for the Institute’s US affiliate and provided change management consulting using the Institute's proprietary employee survey tool.

Michael was a co-owner and board member of the Best Companies Group FZ LLC, a regional human capital consulting firm based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates with offices in Riyadh and Doha.  He received his doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and has degrees from Colorado State University and the University of Southern California.  Michael lives in Washington, DC.
